Love is in the Air!

Hey,this is Jeran! Today was our valentine party, and it started with a twist. Since it was a Friday, I didn't need to look inside my desk until the party started at noon, but when I did, I found this note! I have tried to find who it was from, but no such luck. It can't be a fake, because it has got way too much work put into it--(plus, I've made more than my fair share of false love notes). Also, while my friends around me ate a truckload of candy, I had to give all mine away because of my deal with mom which states: Jeran Jarman may NOT have candy or carbonated drinks for 364 days and 12 hours, and he may gain a profit of $100.00. I did get to frost a cookie, win 2nd place in the valentine box contest "Most Hearts" category, and construct and keep a hilarious mad libs page. So, all in all: a terrible valentines party. (JK) ;)

Just some clarification: Jeran made that deal, free and clear of any suggestion from parents. Parents support it 100%. He came to us with that deal. Megan did it last year and succeeded. Jeran, Joie, and Nate made that deal this year. So far Nate is the only one who has given it up...for candy at scout camp.

And one more thing: Megan has a plan to find out who Jeran's "secret admirer" is. Because the "k" in the note is written in a unique way, Megan is going to have everyone sign a card to Makenna (Megan's friend with a "k" in her name) so she can figure out who likes Jeran. Jeran, who admits he has a crush on Gretchen, said Gretchen told him she knows who wrote it, but won't tell him. This is all wayyyy too complicated for me! The Megan/Jeran duo when it comes to love is filled with some potentially sticky (and maybe scary) situations.

Mary is the writer in the family but I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tim, I am Mary’s 5th child / husband. I appreciate my wife taking the time to blog the day to day actives around the house.

Yesterday I got back to the hotel in Atlanta, GA and discovered that Mary had sent me a care package for Valentines Day. I opened it to discover a unique assortment of stuff. The box had an apple, orange, gum, bag of nuts, and bag of pieces of paper with “100 reasons we love dad” and a bag of homemade granola. Each item hade a little saying like, “I am nuts for you”. As I opened it and read through the notes, I was overcome with emotions and started to cry and you know I never cry. All I can say it my wife is awesome. During the 4 weeks I am been traveling, Mary has never complained and calls me through the day to say, “I love you” and give me encouragement. When I told her I was not going to be able to get home last weekend because my flight was cancelled, she simply asked, “what do you need and how can I can I help”. It is hard being away from the family for so long. Mary keeps me involved every day by making sure I am involved in what’s going on at home and that I have a chance to talk to the kids everyday.

I am reading this; I keep wondering how my kids grew up so fast. I know it was just two weeks ago I put Megan and Jeran in there infant car seats and Nathan in his car seat and drove to Wal-Mart to buy formula and diapers.
Sometimes I wish we could go back to those simple days. Then I remember at that age all they could do is make the mess and not help cleaning it up.

Ok, back to my comment, I really enjoy my kids. This is a fun time in their lives when they go through their self discovery. Sometimes it gets really crazy around the house and Mary and I have to practice crisis management. We remember we have 4 kids great kids who are loving, helpful, full of hope and faith. I am very proud of the men and ladies my kids are becoming. Mary you are doing great job. Keep it up. I will be home in less than a week.

I started this post to respond what my kids are doing, but I wanted everyone to know what a fantastic wife I have. Mary does not like to be in the spotlight, but I need to let everyone who reads this blog, how wonderful you are.
