Unfortunately, issues of racism have risen to the surface of our community. I don't view our community as an uncaring or hostile place to live. These are issues that affect all communities. As citizens we need to be aware of actions and work on building culturally competent communities.
As an adoptive parent, it's certainly an issue that has my attention. I feel strongly about our obligation as a parents and community members to create safe homes and communities for our children.
